Thanks Battlemate.
The difference between gross wieght and actual weight now makes sense that I understand what they mean. I don't understand why there would be a difference between Curb Weight and actual weight.

Here is Ramcharger and the 90 daytona, not good but I have others I am trying to upload Just too damn big for posting at the moment. Cameras are not my thing, I got about a half of dozen the my little brother took, putting them up later when I can get them loaded (zips about 13mb, too big to mount here).

The Patriot Exhaust Ceramic coated headers I Am going with--
![]() Edelbrock Performance carb, 600 CFM with a Jeg's Air cleaner ![]() ![]() Jeg's Small Block Chevy Heads ![]() (But at $1200 for the pair, I may hold off on these for a while) Edelbrock Performer Intake manifold ![]() And for some final shinies--Valvecovers ![]() ![]() The headers run $240 for the set, $275 for the Edelbrock and breather, $120 for the intake, and $80 for the pair of valvecovers. Like I said, $1200 for the pair of new heads, which would be my best HP gain, but I probably will have to hold off on them. With all of this I ought to be putting out well over 300 HP, though. The new heads paired with a new camshaft we are talking then around 400HP+, and a new rearend. Also, the motor mounts required cost about $70 total, radiator $30 (can acqure at the local salvage), fuel regulator is another $50. Throw in probably $300-$400 for gasket sets for the tear down of the V8 and for misc parts needed, looks like I am going to be putting around $1500 into this swap. Looks like you made some good choices in parts. If it were me I'ld save $100 and go with some basic Hooker headers, as those Patriots won't be that shinny after a few good runs at 400HP. And if you go with those aluminum heads and a high lift/short duration cam without putting a 9" differential under the assend, well I guess you'll be walking till you do.
Ohh yeah, you might wanna edit "$240 for the pair of intake manifolds", as they don't come in pairs.

Oops
![]() Over one S10forums.com alot of guys have really liked those Patriot headers, so I am going to stick with them. As for the head/cam, those are probably going to wait a bit longer than the swap anyway right now. I'd rather not lay down another $1500 on the swap right now. I intend on doing that in the future though, unless I am totally content with the performance I get with this setup. I am also looking at getting rid of my 305 and going ahead and getting a 350 to do the swap with. Last edited by amd_man2005 : 20-08-2006 at 08:20 AM. |

Nice parts, but is that is a heck of a lot of money. Would it be easier to grab a 350 from your local salvage? If you are sticking with the parts, I would definitely get a smaller CFM carb, 770CFM on a 305 or even a 350 is too much and you'll end up flooding the shit out of the engine.

Yeah, I am going with 600 CFM now on recommendations. Those look sweet, BM, but I'd rather spend that kind of money on new heads. I am highly considering holding off on my manifold/carb etc right now and just getting a new camshaft and heads, as that will be the best HP gain right off, plus will be easier to do while I already have it torn down.
As mentioned, I am looking at getting a 350 instead of the 305--but I am still planning all the HP upgrades. |

Changed my carb to an Edelbrock Performer "Performance Tuned", 600 CFM. $100 cheaper and will be perfect for my setup with the Edelbrock intake.

What kind of gas mileage do you get with it? Do you have to get it tuned often, or have you ever had to?

Funny, you should post today--I never got around to the project and just bought a 2003 Dodge Dakota last night...with 5500 miles on it, for $10,600.

Oh yeah, thanks! It is a hell of a truck, though its only got that 3.9 Magnum V6, it still hauls ass on down the highway. I got a hell of a deal on it, 5500 miles and 3 years/65,000 miles worth of warranty left on it; it has sat in a garage since it was bought and was driven every great once in a while to let it run. It is really like a new truck, for half price.

I get a good laugh now whenever Australians think "we invented the ute" - every second car on the road in the US is a ute! (American English: Pickup truck)
Good to see you got some wheels now ![]() Speaking of which... better call the mechanic soon...

I think a better statement would be "home of the ute" - there ain't that many running around here when compared to the US
